1. Delete your account in the app
- Open Wivo and go to Settings.
- Tap Delete Account at the bottom of the Settings screen.
- Confirm who you are, read the warning, and type your username to confirm.
This starts a 30-day deletion request. You are signed out. To cancel, sign back in with your 12 words within 30 days. After 30 days the account is deleted permanently.
2. What is deleted
- Your account ID, username, profile name, photo and “about”.
- Your public encryption keys and encrypted key backup.
- Encrypted messages still waiting for delivery to you.
- Your recovery email, contact matches and push tokens.
3. What is kept, and for how long
- Messages you already sent stay on the phones of the people you sent them to, without your name. We cannot delete copies on other people’s phones.
- Sign-in, signup and terms-acceptance logs (IP address, device model, OS version): deleted automatically after 12 months.
- Reports you sent or received: 12 months, or until an open case is closed.
- Database backups: deleted data stays in backups until they expire, about 7 days.
- Public key-transparency log entries are permanent by design, so that key changes can always be checked.
Full details are in the Privacy Policy.
4. Lost your phone?
Your 12 words are your account. Install Wivo on a new phone, sign in with your 12 words, then delete your account as described above.
If you can no longer use the app, email privacy@wivo.to with your username and the subject “Delete my account”. Because Wivo has no phone number or password on file, we cannot confirm that an account is yours without your 12 words; we will tell you what we can do and handle every request within 30 days, as data-protection law requires (GDPR art. 12). Never send us your 12 words — we will never ask for them.
