1. Acceptance
Wivo (“Wivo”, “we”, “us”) is operated by an individual developer. By creating an account or using Wivo you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. The version you accept is recorded.
2. Eligibility and age
You must be at least 13 years old, or older if your country requires it to use Wivo without parental consent (for example 16 in some EU/EEA countries). You may not use Wivo if you were previously banned from it or if the law forbids it.
3. Your account
Your account is created with a username and a 12-word recovery phrase. You are responsible for your device, your PIN and your 12 words. If you lose your 12 words and your PIN and have no recovery email, we cannot restore your account or your messages, because we do not hold your keys.
4. Acceptable use: zero tolerance
We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. You must not use Wivo to:
- share child sexual abuse material or sexualise minors in any way (we report it to the competent authorities);
- harass, bully, threaten, stalk, dox or impersonate anyone;
- post hate speech, or promote terrorism or violent extremism;
- share sexual content without consent, or graphic violence in stories, rooms or other public surfaces;
- spam, scam, phish or distribute malware;
- sell illegal goods or services;
- break the law, infringe others’ rights, or interfere with the service (for example scraping, abusing the protocol or bypassing limits).
Accounts that break these rules are removed.
5. Reporting and blocking
You can block any user, and report a user, a chat, a group, a room or a story from inside the app. Blocking stops the person from contacting you.
6. Moderation
- Messages are end-to-end encrypted, so we cannot scan them. We act on user reports and on account and usage data described in the Privacy Policy.
- Reports are reviewed by people, and we act on them within 24 hours: objectionable content we can access is removed and the user who posted it is banned or restricted.
- Actions include removing content, warnings, temporary restriction, suspension and permanent ban. An automated system can restrict accounts that show signs of spam or abuse; flagged cases are reviewed by a person.
- You can appeal any decision at support@wivo.to.
7. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate accounts that break these Terms, endanger others, or where the law requires it, with or without notice when needed for safety. You may delete your account at any time (30-day grace period, then permanent deletion).
8. Your content
You own your content. You give us a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, transmit and display your content only as needed to operate Wivo (for example delivering encrypted messages and showing your profile). This licence ends when the content is deleted from our systems, except where others still hold copies you sent them.
9. Encryption limits
We cannot read the content of your messages, calls or stories, we cannot recover it for you, and we cannot provide it to anyone. Some data about how the service is used is visible to us, as described in the Privacy Policy. People you send something to can still screenshot or forward it.
10. Paid features
Wivo currently has no paid features, subscriptions or in-app purchases. If paid features are added, we will update these Terms before they are offered.
11. Third-party services
Map data, app stores and other third-party services used with Wivo have their own terms.
12. No warranty
Wivo is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, to the extent allowed by law. We do not guarantee uninterrupted service or the delivery of every message. Wivo is not an emergency service.
13. Limitation of liability
To the extent allowed by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or your statutory rights as a consumer.
14. Changes
We will tell you in the app before material changes to these Terms take effect.
15. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the country where Wivo’s operator is established. If you are a consumer, you keep the mandatory protections of the law of your country of residence and may bring proceedings there.
16. App stores
If you downloaded Wivo from an app store, the store operator is not a party to these Terms and is not responsible for the app or its support. The store’s standard end-user licence terms also apply.
